The Billings Estate Countrywide Historic Website is an Ottawa museum situated 2100 Cabot St. in the previous home of one particular of the region’s earliest settlers. The oldest wood framed dwelling in Ottawa was constructed in 1827-9 by Massachusetts-born Braddish Billings. It turned the home for the next four generations of the Billings family members. It is Ottawa’s oldest surviving dwelling, while the Bytown Museum developing is more mature. Billings experienced moved to the region in 1812, and was the first settler in Gloucester Township.

Billings turned affluent in the timber trade, and constructed the big home that was named Park Hill. Billings afterwards moved into agriculture, and the dwelling turned the centre of a big and affluent farm supplying develop for Bytown, with the farm connected to city by the Bytown and Prescott Railway.

The estate remained in the Billings family members right until 1975. In excess of time the residence was slowly and gradually bought off to builders, and these days the estate retains only a comparatively modest plot of land. In 1975 the dwelling turned a Billings Estate Museum which is these days operated by the town of Ottawa.
